Postdoctoral Training Grant Program

Training Program in Computational Biology

The University of Pennsylvania has established a career conversion training program for postdoctoral researchers in computational biology and bioinformatics. Postdoctoral fellowship positions are funded by a National Institutes of Health Training Grant.

In this program, students with a PhD in the biological sciences will strengthen their computer and statistical skills, or students with a PhD in computer science or statistics will strengthen their biological skills. The program is expected to take two years, and provide the equivalent of two years of post-doctoral training and one year of coursework, which can lead to a Masters degree in, e.g. computer science.

Funding is restricted to US citizens or non-citizen nationals ("persons born in outlying possessions of the US; e.g. American Samoa and Swains Island"). For those trainees who have applied for green cards, citizenship must be met at the time of the appointment. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible.

Minority applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
